JOTECS accepts original research articles, review papers, and short communications across the full scope listed on the About page. We are particularly interested in work that crosses disciplinary boundaries โ antennas designed for specific protocols, FPGA implementations of signal-processing algorithms, IoT systems combining novel sensing with edge intelligence.
Manuscript preparation
- Format โ Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX (.tex with PDF preview). Submissions in other formats will be returned for re-formatting.
- Length โ Original research: 6โ12 pages. Review papers: 10โ20 pages. Short communications: 3โ5 pages.
- Template โ use the JOTECS Word template (request by email) or the equivalent IEEE conference LaTeX template with our title block.
- Figures โ embedded in the manuscript at submission resolution (โฅ300 dpi for photographs, vector for diagrams). Source files (.eps, .svg, .fig) must be provided on acceptance.
- References โ IEEE numbered citation style. DOIs required for all references where available.
- Language โ English (American or British, but consistent within a manuscript).
Peer review process
All submissions undergo double-blind peer review. Manuscripts are anonymised before being sent to at least two independent reviewers. Reviewers have four weeks to return their assessment. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on reviewer recommendations:
- Accept โ accepted as-is or with minor editorial corrections.
- Minor revision โ accepted subject to specific changes the author must address before re-review.
- Major revision โ significant changes required; manuscript will be re-reviewed.
- Reject โ not suitable for publication in JOTECS.
Median time from submission to first decision: 6 weeks. Median time from submission to publication: 14 weeks.
Author fees
There are no submission fees and no article processing charges (APCs). JOTECS is funded institutionally by Politeknik Negeri Padang as part of its research mandate. Authors retain copyright to their work under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license.
Publication ethics
JOTECS follows the COPE guidelines. Specifically:
- Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere.
- All listed authors must have made substantial contributions and approved the final version.
- Conflicts of interest, funding sources, and acknowledgements must be disclosed.
- Plagiarism screening (iThenticate) is run on every submission.
Open access & licensing
By submitting to JOTECS, authors agree to publish their work under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0). Authors retain copyright; readers receive free, immediate, permanent access to the published version. The CC BY-SA license allows reuse and remixing with attribution, provided derivatives carry the same license.
